Wet, stormy weather that have plagued Mississippi over the last two weeks of 2018 will keep right on drenching the Magnolia State as 2019 gets going.

A storm that threatens to hamper travel as millions on on the roads and in the skies headed home for the holidays is expected to bring the likelihood of heavy rain later this week for large portions of Mississippi.

The storm, which will ultimate target areas of the country from Texas to the Northeast will produce flooding rains, dangerous ice and even heavy snow, depending upon where in its path you are.

The chance for heavy rains will impact all but the southernmost portions of Mississippi, missing only areas south of Hattiesburg, forecasters predict.

The cold front will cross Mississippi on Wednesday and Thursday, bringing a heavy chance of rain across the state and plunging temperatures as well with lows dropping into the lower 30s across northern areas of the state and into the upper 30s across central Mississippi.
