Walmart shoppers across the South spent 2018 making the world more colorful.

Walmart recently revealed the year’s top-selling items. Across the country HDTVs and pillows were the most popular item for the year, but a closer look at individual states revealed some interesting regional differences.

In the South, there was a whole lot of coloring going on. In Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee and Virginia, Crayola crayons were the most popular item bought in 2018. Illinois and Oklahoma also joined in the coloring craze in 2018.

When it comes to quenching that thirst, Nebraskans served up a lot of iced tea, while North Dakotans preferred lemonade. In Minnesota, Montana and South Dakota, residents enjoyed bigger hits of caffeine with cups of coffee, while people living in Washington, D.C., enjoyed curling up with mugs of dark chocolate cocoa.

In Wisconsin, people preferred plain old tap water, restocking their PUR water filters often.

To satisfy their hunger cravings, residents of Arkansas, Hawaii, Iowa and Utah prepared dinner with their Instant Pots, while Idaho residents preferred using their Easy-Bake Ovens. Idaho residents purchased a lot of Easy Bake Oven refills in 2018.

Alaskans cooked with coconut milk, Mainers used condensed milk, Oregonians enjoyed the sweet taste of sugar, while Vermonters craved creamed corn.

Nevadans couldn’t get enough of the Flamin’ Hot Cheeto Puffs.
