Sheriff investigates fake cop pulling over motorists

Simpson County Sheriff’s Office investigators are looking into reports that someone is impersonating a law enforcement officer and pulling over unsuspecting motorists, a Jackson TV station reported Monday.

WAPT reports the alleged fake law officer has used a flashing blue light on at least three motorists, two of whom stopped for the man. Impersonating a law enforcement officer is a crime.

Deputies described the suspect as a “husky white male” who uses an older model Ford Crown Victoria — the kind many law enforcement agencies use — with decals that make the car look official.
