Report: Daughter accused of killing sought marijuana while mom lay dying

One of the two young girls accused of murdering their own mother Friday apparently wanted to smoke marijuana on the scene as paramedics arrived, a neighbor said.
“I thought that was kind of strange,” Jeremy Lenoir told the McComb Enterprise-Journal newspaper. “Your mother just passed. What are you even thinking about drugs for if your heart is really pure?”
Lenoir said this occurred as Ericka Hall lay dying in her front yard, a knife still protruding from her back.
Hall’s daughters, 14-year-old Amariyona Hall and her 12-year-old sister, have been charged with her murder. The 14-year-old is being charged as an adult; the 12-year-old’s case is being handled in youth court.
Hall was apparently stabbed multiple times and shot once in the chest, presumably with her own gun.
The girls allegedly fought and stabbed Ericka Hall inside the house before she attempted to retrieve her gun from her car during the attack. Apparently one of the daughters reached the gun first.
Investigators said the pair killed their mother Friday night after what appears to be a series of altercations and disagreements.
Investigators told WLBT TV reporters that law enforcement was called to the house by Ericka Hall on the Wednesday before her death to help with an unruly child. At the time, Ericka Hall chose not to press charges against her daughter then, so law enforcement could not take action against the children.
Pike County Sheriff Kenny Cotton told the Enterprise-Journal that both girls are undergoing mental evaluations.
Once source told investigators the girls became upset after being punished Friday after trying to run over Ericka Hall by running over her with her car. Another person close to the case told a Jackson TV station the girls were upset after their cell phones were taken away for punishment.
