Delta man charged with shooting infant son and baby’s mother
A 19-year-old man was arrested Tuesday after allegedly firing into a Clarksdale mobile home injuring his infant son and the baby’s mother who was the man’s ex-girlfriend. Both have been treated and released from the hospital.
A Clarksdale newspaper and a Memphis TV station reported that Nichale Artis from Jonestown was arrested and charged with aggravated assault, shooting into an occupied dwelling, and seven counts of attempted aggravated assault.
The woman was shot in the hip and the 5-month-old boy was grazed in the head.
A total of nine people were inside the residence when the shooting occurred. Witnesses on the scene reported seeing what appeared to be at least 11 bullet holes on the outside of the mobile home.
