A retired north Mississippi pharmacist was arrested Friday, charged with operating an illegal pharmacy from a flower shop.

John Hall, 76, was arrested at his Nettleton shop, The Flower Garden.

Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics Director John Dowdy said agents found an assortment of prescription drugs at the shop.

Hall was charged with felony sale of tapentadol, a prescription opioid analgesic; felony possession with intent to sell or distribute soma, a prescription muscle relaxer; and misdemeanor practicing medicine without a license.

“Mr. Hall could face additional charges,” Dowdy said.

The U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration’s Tactical Diversion Unit, Mississippi Board of Pharmacy, North Mississippi Narcotics Unit and Lee County Sheriff’s Office assisted the MBN in the three-month investigation that led to Hall’s arrest.

“It is always good when agencies work together for the safety and welfare of our communities,” said Lee County Sheriff Jim Johnson.
