A 63-year-old pastor of a small Jackson church was killed and robbed Sunday morning as he opened the doors to his church, a Jackson TV station reported.

Antony Finch Longino was found dead outside his small Jackson church, New Bethany Missionary Baptist Church on Hill Avenue, WLBT reported. A sign outside the church identified Longino was the church’s pastor.

The shooting reportedly occurred at approximately 9 a.m. Sunday, just an hour before Sunday School was to have been held and two hours before Longino would have taken the pulpit.

Police believe Longino was robbed after the shooting and that his truck, a blue 2018 Dodge Ram with license plate no. A110355, was stolen.

A Facebook profile for Anthony Longino that appeared to belong to the victim indicated he had attended New Hebron High School and studied accounting at Jackson State University.
