A Mississippi man apparently having a drug-induced, taco tantrum was arrested Sunday after leaping over the counter at a Taco Bell restaurant and trying to steal from the cash register.

A customer retrieved a weapon from his vehicle and helped restaurant employees and other patrons subdue the man until police arrives, the Columbus Dispatch newspaper reported Monday.

Columbus police were called to the Taco Bell located off Highway 45 North just after 2 p.m., where Brian Key Gartman, 32, was arrested.

Police said after Gartman was arrested, he attempted to kick out the rear window of the police cruiser.

No one was injured in the incident and the customer who drew a weapon did not fire it, police said.

Gartman faces disorder conduct, resisting arrest and possession of methamphetamine charges, police reported.
