NATCHEZ — Two pit bulls that attacked an Adams County woman on Dec. 21 have been euthanized, Adams County Sheriff’s Office officials said.

“We had a veterinarian come out and check the dogs out,” said Jerry Brown, chief deputy ACSO, “and the vet said the dogs were too dangerous to remain in society. So, based on that, we obtained a court order to have the dogs euthanized.”

The dogs, Brown said, a male and a female pit bull, were euthanized on Jan. 9.

ACSO officials said the dogs attacked Lindsay Barber, 26, when she was visiting friends on Dec. 21 at Plantation Trailer Park.

The dogs chased Barber in the yard and attacked her until friends were able to get the dogs off of her, deputies said.

Barber suffered wounds to the face and neck and a chipped tooth,

Brown said, adding Barber has since been treated at a hospital and is now home recovering.

Brown said no charges have been filed in the case but an investigation is ongoing to determine whether the dogs’ owners were negligent.
