Police reported that the 2007 Nissan Altima driven by Howard was southbound on Fisher Ferry when it went off the left side of the road, struck a tree and burst into flames. Both women were taken directly to UMMC.

Police told a Jackson TV station that the cause of the investigation was still being determined, but that an arrest may be made in the case.
