A Mississippi man has pleaded guilty in a 2017 crash that killed three siblings and seriously injured their mother.

The Sun Herald reports 25-year-old Jesse Edward Dickerson pleaded guilty to murder and fleeing charges Monday. He was ordered to have no contact with the family of the victims.

Dickerson admitted the crash happened after he decided to run from an officer. Dickerson lost control of the car and slammed into a sign.

A prosecutor says authorities called off the pursuit but Dickerson continued to speed away, nearly hitting another car before crashing. He fled after the crash, leaving behind the six passengers.

Seven-year-old Sierra Jean Dixon, 9-year-old Terra Dixon and 16-year-old Spencer Havard died. The children’s mother, Jackie Dixon, lost her legs and suffered other injuries.

Two passengers weren’t seriously injured. None were wearing seat belts.
