The violence in the capital city of Jackson continued early Monday. The latest victim was a man who reportedly was shot while he slept inside his residence, Jackson media reported.

Jackson Police were investigating a shooting in the 1000 block of Barbara Ann Drive.

Shortly after midnight, officers were called to the location were a 53-year-old man had been shot.

The victim reportedly told officers he was lying in bed when shots were fire outside. Apparently at least one bullet entered the resident and struck the man, WLBT TV reported.

It was not clear if the man was the intended target of the shooting or not.

The man was being treated at an area hospital in stable condition.
