Two people died when a pickup truck they were traveling in slipped off a narrow, one-land bridge and rolled into a creek, a county sheriff said.

Itawamba County Sheriff Chris Dickinson tells news outlets that 21-year-old Joseph L. Moore and 24-year-old Sara Sides appeared to have died of drowning.

A passerby spotted the vehicle in the water Monday morning and called 911, but Dickinson says the accident is believed to have happened sometime after 11:30 p.m. Sunday.

The sheriff says the pickup truck that Moore and Sides were traveling in slipped off the edge of the single-lane bridge and rolled into the creek.
