A Brandon man was sentenced Tuesday to 40 years in prison, with 20 years to serve after pleading guilty to possessing child pornography. It was his second conviction on child porn related charges.

Rankin County Circuit Court Judge Steve Ratcliff sentenced Jerry Michael Farley Jr., 45, Tuesday to 40 years in prison with 20 years to serve and five years post-release supervision after law enforcement tracked Farley’s website habits and discovered child pornography on his computer.

Farley must pay $1,000 to the Children’s Trust Fund and $1,000 to the Mississippi Crime Victims Fund.

“You can’t get away from our Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force,” Mississippi Attorney General Jim Hood said. “This man committed this horrible crime once before in Hinds County and crossed the county line to do it again. I thank Judge Ratcliff for making him serve well-deserved time.”

This case was prosecuted by Special Assistant Attorneys General Tina Herron and Brandon Ogburn.

Farley was convicted of exploitation of children in 2014 and as such was a registered sex offender in the state.
