MARSHALL COUNTY — A man said he doesn’t deserve the credit for pulling a man from a fiery wreck on U.S. 72 in North Mississippi Wednesday.

Clint Street gives credit to God for giving him the opportunity to be in the right place to help. He also gives the credit to a woman who flagged him down on the road as he was going to work Wednesday.

“Thank the good Lord that he put that lady and me there to help that man,” Street told reporters for WREG in Memphis.

Street said when he heard the lady screaming and saw smoke coming out of the ditch where a vehicle had wrecked, he knew he had to help whoever was involved in the wreck.

“I just knew if I was in that position, I would be praying that God would put somebody there to do the same for me,” Street said.

Street told reporters he then jumped out of his truck when he saw a man with his head stuck out of the window of another car in the ditch — on fire.

Street said he ran down to pull the man out of the fiery situation.

“He just had that look in his eyes, like, ‘Am I going to drown or burn to death?” Street said.

Street pulled the man to safety and walked him to his truck, where they waited for help. Street said, the man appeared to be OK, but may have had a broken leg.
