A southwest Mississippi city will borrow to help pay for park improvements.

The Enterprise-Journal reports McComb’s city board voted unanimously to begin the process of borrowing $500,000. That’s how much McComb expects to collect in hotel tax revenues between now and June 2021.

The city is set to consider a slate of park improvements estimated to cost more than $1.1 million. The plans include work in all of the city’s parks.

McComb recently tried to build a new restroom in one park, but what was built was deemed so flawed as to be unusable, so the city is drawing up new plans.

The board has also discussed using some of the hotel tax money to again hire a tourism director.
