Ryan Richards, the captain on board the MV SCF Explorer a 6600hp Z drive vessel, shared this video of his boat clearing the Mississippi River bridges in Vicksburg, Mississippi, at approximately 6 p.m. Friday.
Richards said the crew had to lay the mast and radar down to fit under the bridges due to the high water of the river. The river on Friday was at approximately 51.2 feet on the Vicksburg river gauge, which is in the top 10 highest levels ever recorded.
The flood swollen river can wreak havoc on barge traffic along the river due to high levels and swift currents.
