A former police officer is in jail after a dead body was found inside his truck parked in the driveway of his home.

Gregory Robinson of Magnolia has been charged with the murder of Renee Jones, 52, also of Magnolia, a community near McComb in Southwest Mississippi. Robinson was being held without bond.

Police say the shooting appears to have happened early Sunday morning at Robinson’s residence.

Pike County Sheriff Kenny Cotton told state media that Jones’ body appeared to have a single gunshot wound to the head.

Robinson has no longer with the police department.

The McComb Enterprise Journal newspaper reported that Robinson had been indicted in 2003 by a grand jury for his alleged involvement in a prostitution ring that included girls ages 14 and 17. It’s unclear what came of that indictment.
