‘Raggedy’ trailers moved as land dispute eases

A dispute may be ending after a south Mississippi landowner removed two trailers that a county supervisor called “raggedy.”

The Picayune Item reports landowner Mark Gibson moved the trailers. He had parked them just off Interstate 59 at the entrance to the Lake Hillsdale subdivision south of Lumberton.

Pearl River County Supervisor Hudson Holliday says he met with Gibson and subdivision homeowners to mediate the dispute.

Holliday says the homeowners’ association wants Gibson to pay back dues on hundreds of lots he acquired by paying overdue property taxes. Gibson says an agreement is being negotiated.

Homeowners interpreted the trailers, one spray painted with “Free Golf,” as an attempt to intimidate them in negotiations.

Gibson says he spent $6 million to acquire lots and hopes to resell them in larger parcels.
