Police investigate shooting of 3-year-old Mississippi child
A 3-year-old child was wounded Thursday night by a gunshot at a mobile home in a mobile home park in the 1200 block of Mount Alban Road, Warren County Sheriff Martin Pace said.
He said deputies received a 911 call about 8:45 p.m. Thursday that a child had been shot in the leg at the mobile home park. The child was taken by the parents to Merit Health River Region with a single gunshot wound to the thigh. The child was later transferred by AirCare helicopter to University of Mississippi Medical Center.
According to sheriff’s office reports, the child, two older children and the parents were home when the incident occurred.
Pace said investigator Sam Winchester, the lead investigator in the case, recovered a bullet believed to be the one that wounded the child. The sheriff declined to give further information citing the investigation.
