Police in Mississippi says an Okolona school was temporarily locked down when one parent stabbed another during a fight near school grounds.

WTVA-TV reports Latoya Johnson was arrested and charged with simple assault in the Tuesday fight that wounded Esperanza Baker.

Authorities say Baker was taken to a hospital in Memphis, Tennessee, and will be charged with aggravated assault upon her release.

Okolona police investigator Robert Stokes says bullying between two Okolona High School students may have led to the fight.

School district Superintendent Dexter Green says the fight happened near the school, prompting it to lock down. He says students were in class during the fight and regular operations resumed shortly after police arrived.
Johnson has posted bail and been released. It’s unclear if the parents have lawyers.
