Four historic black colleges and universities in Mississippi each received a $50,000 grant Tuesday as part of Home Depot’s “Retool Your School” program.

The winners from Mississippi include:

• Jackson State University
• Alcorn State University
• Mississippi Valley State University
• Coahoma Community College

The four were among 10 winning schools. Home Depot’s program aims to “give back to our nation’s historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs) what they have so generously given to their communities — a strong foundation, renewed purpose and distinctive character.”

To win school supporters had to vote for their favorite HBCU using social media.
