Authorities in Mississippi have identified a body found in a wooded area in Moss Point as that of a Pascagoula man who was reported missing last month.
The Sun Herald of Biloxi reports Deputy Coroner Carole Anne Burnett-Fagan announced on Monday the identification of 26-year-old Shawn Elliot Martin. She says his cause of death is still pending.
Martin’s family has said he was headed to Atlanta last month. His mother, Leah Kimble, says the last time anyone heard from her son is when he made a phone call while at a store on Mississippi Highway 63 in Moss Point.
His abandoned car and his body were later found nearby. Moss Point police Chief Brandon Ashely says Martin’s body was found in an area known for gatherings involving drugs and alcohol.
