A Vicksburg man was killed early Thursday, when the vehicle he was driving collided with a cargo truck.

Larry T. Ferguson Jr., 21, of Vicksburg, was the driver of a Chevrolet Impala when it reportedly crossed the centerline of U.S. 61 North and collided with a 6-wheeled cargo truck around 2:30 a.m. Mississippi Highway Patrol reported the Impala was traveling north near Floweree Road, when it hit the southbound cargo truck.

Ferguson died as a result of his injuries. The driver of the truck was transported to Merit Health River Region with non-life threatening injuries.

Authorities said the accident remains under investigation.
