A campaign spokesman says Republican Lt. Gov. Tate Reeves has $6.7 million to spend running for Mississippi governor.

The spokesman, Parker Briden, says Friday that Reeves raised more than $1 million during the first four months of this year.

His comments came on the deadline day for Mississippi candidates to file reports disclosing how much money they raised and spent through April 30.

One of Reeves’ Republican primary opponents is Bill Waller Jr., who retired early this year as chief justice of the Supreme Court and then started raising money to run for governor. His campaign said Wednesday that Waller collected more than $580,000 in March and April.

Other candidates were waiting until late Friday to file finance reports, including Democratic Attorney General Jim Hood, who is running for governor.
