Mississippi teen charged with bringing loaded gun to high school

A teenager faces criminal charges after allegedly bringing a gun to a Mississippi high school.

Authorities in Tate County were tipped off by another student, WREG TV in Memphis reported.

Tate County Sheriff Brad Lance told the TV station that rumors had started to fly and a student warned a teacher about another student who had a gun hidden in his backpack.

Quickly after receiving the tip, the loaded pistol was located and the student was charged.

The student was reportedly detained a juvenile detention center ahead of his first appearance before a judge, likely next week.
