11-year-old boy charged with homicide in 9-year-old brother’s death
An 11-year-old boy was arrested Sunday in connection to the shooting death of his 9-year-old brother, Louisiana media reported.
The 9-year-old was shot and killed at a Baton Rouge, Louisiana, residence Saturday, police reported.
Authorities believe the boys were playing with a gun and the gun somehow discharged.
Police have charged the 11-year-old with negligent homicide in his brother’s death.
Investigators said they believe the shooting may have been accidental.
“By law the 11-year-old could be held in the juvenile detention center until he’s 18 years old, if convicted,” East Baton Rouge Parish District Attorney Hillar Moore said in a written release. “Obviously this case is very tragic and sad so we will review everything before we make any determination.”
