Mississippi’s border problem: 30 Tennessee residents charged with selling heroin, fentanyl near schools including Mississippi ones

Prosecutors in Tennessee say 30 people have been charged with selling heroin and the dangerous opioid fentanyl in school zones.
The Shelby County district attorney’s office said in a news release Wednesday that 22 men and eight women are charged with possessing controlled substances with intent to deliver and sell in drug-free school zones.
Investigators said the defendants were circulating as much as pound of heroin and fentanyl per week in Memphis and north Mississippi.
Charges carry sentences of 15 to 25 years in prison, upon conviction.
Prosecutors say the charges were the result of a six-month investigation by the Memphis Police Department.
