Police investigate 4-year-old’s death due to ‘alarming’ injuries; victim’s 3-year-old sister hospitalized

Police said they are investigating a 4-year-old Natchez girl’s death due to injuries and injuries that placed her 3-year-old sister in a hospital.

Adams County Coroner James Lee said he pronounced the 4-year-old girl dead at 12:35 p.m. Wednesday after he was called to the Merit Health Natchez emergency room.

Lee said the victim’s 3-year-old sister was transported to a hospital in Jackson with serious injuries.

“The injuries to these children’s bodies are very alarming and serious,” said Natchez Police Chief Walter Armstrong.

Lee said he believes the children lived in the Holiday Apartments.

“The body is being transported to the state crime lab for a mandatory autopsy,” Lee said.

Armstrong said police were investigating the case Wednesday afternoon.

“We are talking to family members and anyone who may have had knowledge of these two kids and more info will be forthcoming,” Armstrong said.

Lee said he was saddened by the case.

“I wish I had the correct words to describe how devastating this is,” Lee said. “God have Mercy.”
