A bodies of a couple reported missing on Thursday were found Saturday floating in a flooded backwater area of the Mississippi Delta.
Local media citing the Yazoo County Sheriff’s Office reported the bodies of Latamela Taylor and Darron Wilson were found at approximately 5 p.m. Saturday, along with a car deputies believe they were riding in.
The couple reportedly was last seen Thursday night as they drove home from a relative’s house in Vicksburg headed to Rolling Fork.
The bodies and the car were removed from a backwater flooded area on Satartia Road.
The lower Mississippi River has been above flood stage for months causing a tremendous amount of backwater flooding to occur as well. Despite the high water, the couple appears to be the first Mississippi fatalities of the flood.
