One person injured as police fire on car that tried to run them over
Officials say a north Mississippi police officer shot and wounded someone as a car tried to hit officers.
Local news outlets say the shooting happened Thursday afternoon at a gas station in Southaven, a suburb of Memphis, Tennessee.
Officials say four people were detained and one of them was taken to a Memphis hospital. The injured person’s condition is unknown. Police didn’t identify any of the four.
It’s unclear whether the driver or a passenger was injured.
A vehicle with a bullet hole in the front windshield was loaded onto a tow truck after the shooting.
Southaven police referred reporters to DeSoto County District Attorney John Champion for comment. The prosecutor said Thursday that he wasn’t immediately ready to talk. No criminal charges have been announced.
