Young mom stabbed as she fought off kidnapper to protect newborn

A Mississippi woman was stabbed while trying to protect her newborn baby from a kidnapper, a TV station reports.

WREG-TV in Memphis reports that new mother Tobyianna Hicks was stabbed after a woman who purportedly wanted to donate baby clothes to her attacked her.

The suspect had come to Hicks’ house the day before and wanted Hicks to get into her car, something Hicks said she refused to do. The woman returned the following day.

The woman grabbed the baby, got into her car and started driving. Hicks followed her, the TV station reported before they eventually stopped at a church parking lot in Walls, Mississippi.

After a standoff, the woman pulled a machete and jumped on Hicks stabbing her multiple, Hicks told the TV station.

They women were fighting when a fire truck driving past noticed the pair and stopped. The alleged attacker fled.

Both Hicks and her baby were treated and released and police are searching for the attacker. They have a warrant issued for her arrest.
