A Mississippi woman who worked as a prison guard in Louisiana was arrested Thursday after she was caught allegedly trying to sneak a cellphone to an inmate.

The Louisiana Department of Corrections reported that Courtnee Anderson, 30, of Natchez, Mississippi, was a corrections officer at the Louisiana State Penitentiary in Angola. She was charged with malfeasance in office.

Investigators say during a routine shakedown the contraband cellphone was found in possession of an inmate.

Allegedly the phone contained evidence that Anderson and the inmate had been having an inappropriate relationship.

Corrections officials said Anderson admitted to the crime and resigned before she was charged. She had only worked at the prison since late January.
