A film crew in Southwest Mississippi may have made passing motorists think they had won the lottery.
The sight of what looked like $100 bills strewn across a section of U.S. 61 likely tempted drivers to jam on brakes and start combing the median. But the cash was just movie magic — also known as fake cash.
Producers of the movie “Breaking News in Yuba County” were filming a scene Monday on the stretch between the former Ruby Tuesday location and Walmart in which actors threw the fake $100 bills out of a car window.
Passersby later stopped to pick up the bills the film crew missed in cleaning up. They noticed some was missing and local residents reported seeing motorists jumping out of their vehicles to grab the cash — which is clearly labeled as fake money.
The film, directed by Mississippian Tate Taylor stars Allison Janney, Mila Kunis, Juliette Lewis, Ellen Barkin
