An airplane glider crashed Saturday in Rankin County, killing the pilot, WLBT-TV reports.

Sheriff Bryan Bailey told the television station that callers reported an airplane had gone down and the pilot was trapped inside, but when deputies arrived, they found the man dead.

The man was identified as James Gately, 65, from Covington, Louisiana.

The National Transportation Safety Board will lead the investigation into the crash.
