A Mississippi teenager was in critical condition Tuesday after nearly drowning Monday at a pool in Starkville, the Commercial Dispatch newspaper reports.

The newspaper reported a 17-year-old Starkville resident was found submerged in a swimming pool at an apartment complex.

Emergency medical responders resuscitated the victim and the teen was airlifted to University of Mississippi Medical Center.

The victim was in critical condition Tuesday, the newspaper reported.
