Two Mississippi men were arrested Saturday night and charged with attempted kidnapping after witnesses said the pair tried to lure children into their van, local media reported.

Lee County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested Laymond Palmer and Daniel George, charging each with attempted kidnapping. The alleged incidents occurred at the Pine Ridge racetrack in Guntown, near Tupelo.

Witnesses said the children reported the men tried to use the promise of stuffed animals to lure the children into the van. When one child fled, one of the men reportedly chased after the child.

Deputies had the van towed for processing.
