Police have identified the couple who were killed Tuesday morning at a Mississippi medical clinic.

Marshall County Sheriff Kenny Dickerson told WREG-TV in Memphis a domestic dispute ended Tuesday morning with a husband shooting his estranged wife, then himself.

The county coroner confirmed the two people as Latoya Thompson, a receptionist at the Williams Medical Clinic in Potts Camp, and her estranged husband, Carl Robinson.

The couple lived in Benton County.

Robinson was a candidate for the District 5 seat in the Mississippi House of Representatives and was to be on the Democratic Party primary ballot next month.

“This is a very small community. Such a tragedy. You know, it’s hard to believe an event of this nature could occur here. But as we know, they happen every place in cities large and small,” Dickerson told the TV station.
