Automaker Nissan announced plans to cut 12,500 jobs from its workforce, but a spokeswoman says the cuts will not affect jobs at the company’s Canton, Mississippi, manufacturing plant.
WAPT-TV news reports that spokeswoman Lloryn Love-Carter said cuts earlier this year at the plant have already improved the financial viability of the Canton auto plant.
“Nissan has already taken steps to rightsize its North American region,” Lloryn Love-Carter told WAPT. “We will continue to monitor and react to market demand, but have no plans for further workforce reductions at this time.”
