A Mississippi man was arrested Friday at his medical business in the small town of Amory.

Phillip Minga was taken into custody by law enforcement officers from both the state of Mississippi and Alabama, local media reported.

Exactly why Minga was arrested and on what specific charges was not immediately disclosed.

He was arrested at Medpoint, a medical supply business believed to be owned by either Minga or members of his family.

A representative of the Mississippi Attorney General’s Office told the Northeast Mississippi Daily Journal that the charges were from Alabama and that they related to theft of a controlled substance.

Minga and his wife Konie Minga are defendants in a federal lawsuit brought by Roche Diagnostics. The company claims a pharmaceutical network the Mindas controlled and operates in Mississippi and Alabama fraudulently sought reimbursement for blood glucose test strips that were either never delivered to patients or were of a lower-cost variety than what was billed.

That lawsuit, filed in September 2018, is still active in the U.S. District Court of Northern Alabama. It’s unclear if Friday’s arrest is connected to the lawsuit or another matter.
