A 9-year-old boy has apparently drowned in Simpson County, Mississippi, a Jackson television station reported.

Simpson County Sheriff’s Office deputies and officers with the state wildlife and fisheries department recovered the boy’s body from a pond in southern Simpson County at approximately 8 a.m. Monday, reported WLBT-TV.

Neither the boy’s identity nor the events that led up to his apparent drowning were immediately available.
