Minor earthquake hits mid-Mississippi early Friday

A minor earthquake gave mid-Mississippi residents a little rumble early Friday.

The U.S. Geological Society reported a 2.8 magnitude earthquake in Madison County, approximately 10 miles from the city of Madison occurred at approximately 2:33 a.m.

A fault line runs through this area and has shown some seismic activity in the past. On hit Madison County in 2015 and along the same fault line in Washington County a 3.7 magnitude quake hit nearby Washington County.
