A woman’s body found Saturday afternoon in Lincoln County has been sent to the Mississippi Crime Lab for autopsy.

Lincoln County Sheriff Steve Rushing said a passerby driving on Caseyville Road about 4:45 p.m. saw what appeared to be a body about 10 to 15 yards from the street and called authorities.

A woman’s body was found on the edge of the Homochitto National Forest just inside the Lincoln County line, he said. Rushing estimates it had been there for several days.
