Reports: Mississippi sheriff’s deputy shot, circumstances unclear, scene still active

Jackson media reported a Madison County Sheriff’s Office deputy was shot Thursday morning.
The Clarion Ledger newspaper reported that a spokesman for the Madison Police Department confirmed the shooting.
WLBT-TV reported a heavy law enforcement presence was seen on Highway 16 in Canton near the Canton Country Club.
The TV station reported the deputy was shot in the arm and was taken away from the scene for treatment.
Details of the shooting were not imemdiately clear.
