Search crews located the body of one of two children who had been missing since Sunday morning after a vehicle plunged into the Mississippi River.

Tunica County Sheriff’s Office officials said late Tuesday afternoon that the body of the missing 5-year-old girl was located at approximately 1:46 p.m. The girl’s 3-year-old brother remains missing and crews continues to search the river.

The girl’s body was located approximately 50 feet from the vehicle, the sheriff’s office said.

Late Monday divers recovered the body of the driver, Symphony Wilson. Investigators said Wilson had dropped off friends at their workplace at the Fitz Casino in Tunica. The two children belonged to the friends who work at the casino.

Police believe Wilson somehow lost control of the vehicle and it drove into the river, floating approximately 75 yards before it sank to the bottom.

Crews had been searching further down river from where Wilson’s car was located beneath the water, but are now focusing the search closer to the location of the vehicle.

“We hope, we pray that the body is close,” Tunica County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Randy Stewart said. “It’s in God’s hands. He has to help us locate him.”
