Two people were found shot inside their vehicle Tuesday afternoon along a highway in north Mississippi.

The pair, who may have been shot while they were driving, were apparently shot in Coahoma County.

The female driver and her male passenger continued driving after being shot, driving approximately 13 miles into neighboring Tunica County where sheriff’s deputies spotted the vehicle and stopped them to help. The victims were reportedly on the phone with 911 operators when the sheriff’s deputies spotted them.

Both were airlifted to a Memphis hospital where their condition is not known.

Tunica Sheriff’s deputies said the Coahoma County Sheriff’s Office would be investigating since the actual shooting seemed to have occurred there.
