A registered sex offender was arrested Sunday after sheriff’s deputies say he was prostituting a developmentally disabled woman to people at an interstate rest stop.

WDAM-TV reports that a Forrest County Sheriff’s Office deputy spotted suspicious activity around a truck at the rest stop on Interstate 59 and began surveillance.

They discovered Louis Remont, 60, of Bay St. Louis, who is a three-time sex offender, and a female who deputies said appeared to be developmentally disabled. Investigators say Remont was offering sex acts with the woman in exchange for money.

Remont was arrested and charged with several criminal counts including exploitation and abuse of a vulnerable adult and prostitution charges.

The woman was transported to a safe place and is being cared for.
