A Mississippi couple has been arrested after police investigated how the couple’s 5 1/2 month-old baby was severely abused.

The Northeast Mississippi Daily Journal newspaper reports the baby’s father, Tyler Dollar, 22, of Dumas, Mississippi, and its mother, Katyln Gross, 18, of Falkner, were arrested. Dollar is charged with felony child abuse. Gross is charged with felony deprivation of needs.

The mother reportedly left the baby with the father, this was in spite of a state department of human services case that prohibited this.

Gross and her mother found the baby severely beaten after the got off work. Reportedly, Gross refused to take the child to the emergency room.

Dollar and Gross were being held Saturday on $40,000 and $25,000 bonds, respectively.
