The Mississippi Department of Transportation says one of its employees was killed when the tractor he was driving rolled over as he mowed grass by a roadside.
The department says in a news release that the accident happened Tuesday next to U.S. Highway 84 in Franklin County, near the Adams County line in southwestern Mississippi.
The employee was 57-year-old Mark Youngblood of Roxie. He had worked for the department’s maintenance office in Bude since 2011.
Department director Melinda McGrath called Youngblood “one of our dedicated public servants,” and she asked people to keep Youngblood’s family in their prayers.
A Department of Transportation construction manager was killed Sept. 11 when he was struck by an 18-wheeler while working on a roadside in northeastern Mississippi’s Itawamba County.
