A woman and a 2-year-old child are hospitalized in Mississippi after they were found inside a sport utility vehicle that was almost fully submerged in water.
Columbus Police Chief Fred Shelton tells news outlets the incident happened during the weekend at the Columbus Lock and Dam on the Tennessee-Tombigbee Waterway.
Investigators are trying to determine what happened. Shelton said officers will talk with the woman after she is released from the hospital.
It was the second time this month that a vehicle has become submerged in water in Mississippi.
A woman and two children were killed after the SUV she was driving went into the Mississippi River on Sept. 9 in Tunica County.
